On March 4, 2024, Lynn University's Information Systems team announced that it had rolled out convenient new services for students. The Workday Student platform now serves as a one-stop shop for managing academic records, financial aid and more. Workday Student provides the digital transformation necessary to support the Lynn 2025 strategic plan of elevating the student experience while working more efficiently across departments, reducing silos and enhancing collaboration.

"Our team's dedication to this project has allowed us to keep up with the expectations of our digital students," said Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Chris Boniforti. "Our Fall 2024 students will have a more efficient way to complete important tasks while transitioning to Lynn."

Workday is a leading software platform used by companies including ADP, Deloitte, Amazon Web Services and Google, as well as institutions such as Cornell, Wake Forest and Brown Universities. Lynn has leveraged Workday to build an ecosystem for improved business processes for its students and employees. In 2019, Lynn's team officially kicked off the Workday project with a plan to make significant upgrades from legacy systems. At that time, the team streamlined and upgraded financial, payroll and human resource processes for employees.

Today, cross-departmental teams are working diligently to make student processes easier by consolidating functions normally found on multiple platforms, including registration, advising and financial aid. One of the major changes for Fall 2024 is the way students register for classes. Students can now register independently using the academic plan based on their major. The app also helps them navigate financial procedures.

Digital platforms support community needs

Workday Student is just one of many platforms that help faculty, staff and students achieve their goals.

"Workday Student revolutionizes the way students interact with academic records, financial information and financial aid," said Assistant Vice President of Information Technology Maria Piret. "Its implementation marks a significant milestone, bringing a host of new features and efficiencies to our daily operations."

To help with the transition, multiple training sessions are offered for students who need help navigating Workday. In February, students attended a mock registration session to teach them how to register for courses. Before students come to campus, they will receive emails and nudges within Workday for tasks they need to complete, such as updating contact information and granting parental permissions. In addition, the Academic Advising office is available to help students with their programs of study, career goals, elective choices and more.
