It's hard to believe that the U.S. presidential debate at Lynn University was twelve years ago. Our technology investments during the debate opened a whole new way of teaching and learning for our institution. We became one of the first universities in the nation to provide iPads to faculty and students, putting a transformational learning companion into the hands of students and empowering faculty with exciting, new ways to teach and collaborate.
Today, Lynn University continues to thrive. Since the debate, our student body has grown 67%, and our retention is robust. Enrollment has soared in the Burton D. Morgan College of Aeronautics, nearly doubling in the last few years. Several of Lynn's master plan projects have come to fruition, namely the Mohammed Indimi International Business Center, soccer and lacrosse facilities at Bobby Campbell Stadium, and collaboration spaces for students in the Christine E. Lynn University Center, which has become a hub for student activity and home to our Social Impact Lab.
In this edition of Lynn magazine, we mark our 10th anniversary as an Apple Distinguished School and look at our innovation in teaching, learning and campus environment.
Supporting our growth, Lynn's recent investment in Workday Student is simplifying the way students enroll in classes, monitor their progress, manage their financial aid and so much more. This one-stop shop for managing life at Lynn is up and running with this incoming class.
Our campus remains a global institution, with 20% of this year's incoming class joining us from 62 countries and 37 states. To foster intercultural understanding of nations, languages and customs, Lynn's International Programs and Services team works closely with our students and departments throughout campus to create opportunities to share cultures and traditions.
In sports, women's swimming secured its first 200-yard medley relay national championship, and student-athletes have enjoyed having their own dedicated strength and conditioning space at the new Snyder Center for Health and Wellness. Kathy Kroupa, our new athletics director, sets high standards for student-athletes in their sports and classrooms. Across all 19 sports, student-athletes continue to excel with high GPAs, earning athletic scholar recognition.
We broke ground on a new residence hall project slated to open in Fall 2025. The new building will bring to life our vision for a close-knit neighborhood on the south side of campus and meet an immediate need to provide affordable, on-campus living for Lynn's expanding student population.
The Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center continues to be a choice venue for those in our region to attend performances from our very talented conservatory and drama departments. We are grateful to our donors for making these top-notch events possible and providing our university and the community a way to enjoy the arts here in Boca.
Thank you for joining us on this exciting journey. We appreciate our past and the foundation it provides for us today. We are also emboldened and optimistic about our future. Stay tuned for what's coming next.
Regards,
Kevin M. Ross
