A united front

How alumni, faculty, parents, staff and trustees support the mission of endowed scholarships.

Scholarships are essential for many Lynn University students. They make education accessible and allow students to remain at the university and earn their degree.

Endowed scholarships serve as a permanent investment for years to come, while also establishing a legacy for Lynn supporters. Assuming a 5% payout, a $1 million scholarship provides $50,000 in student aid annually. Cultivating relationships with donors and the community is part of the Lynn 2025 mission, and endowed scholarships have proved vital for forging relationships and strengthening donor engagement.

"Donors are fundamental to the continued transformation of Lynn University," said Director of Advancement Dr. Lisa A. Miller. "Their generosity is providing Lynn with the necessary resources to fulfill the university's mission of providing an innovative, global and personalized education to students."

How beloved community members make a difference

In 2024–25, nine scholarships were added to Lynn's portfolio and included $3.2 million in pledges and gifts. Today, the institution has 70 endowed scholarships made possible by parents, trustees, friends and alumni.

Three recent endowed scholarships are named for Lynn employees—Professor Ralph Norcio, Head Coach for men's and women's tennis Michael Perez and Distinguished Professor of American history Robert Watson. Both Norcio and Perez have served 36 years at Lynn, while Watson has dedicated 18 years to the institution.

"These endowed scholarships are a tribute and testament to the positive impact that professors Norcio and Watson, along with Coach Perez, have had on so many students over the years," said Vice President for Enrollment and University Advancement Dr. Gareth P. Fowles. "All three individuals have been instrumental to the growth of Lynn, and now their legacies will live on in perpetuity."

How alumni give back

As a part of Lynn 2025, University Advancement took on the mission of mobilizing alumni to participate in activities for the institution and its students. Four alumni are shining examples of how this mission is being met, including Jeff '00, '02 and Jarred John '08; Julian Robertson '02; and Jeff Wile '02, '03. These alumni were strong advocates and supporters of the Ralph Norcio Endowed Scholarship.

In addition, Jeff and Jarred John hosted an evening at their Delray Beach restaurant, Warren, to fundraise for the endowed scholarship. At the event, the Johns auctioned over 30 bottles of exclusive whiskeys and other spirits, raising more than $33,000.
